Frequently Asked Questions

Everything students and tutors ask before they start.

How does PASS work?

Search a course, pick a peer tutor, book a time, and meet online or in person. You pay only for the time you book.

How are tutors reviewed?

Each tutor is reviewed by our team before approval and may be asked to verify school affiliation, coursework, identity, or eligibility before accepting bookings. Additional safety requirements may apply before tutors can work with minor learners.

How much does tutoring cost?

Tutors set their own hourly rate, starting at $15/hr. You pay the rate they list — no booking fees or hidden charges for students. PASS keeps a 15% platform fee from each booking; tutors keep 85%.

Can I meet online or in person?

Both. Tutors and students agree on the format at booking time. Most sessions happen over video, but in-person meetups are supported too.

What happens if my tutor doesn't show up?

Open a dispute from the session page. Confirmed no-shows are fully refunded.

How do cancellations and refunds work?

Cancel any pending or upcoming session from your dashboard. Cancellations more than 24 hours before the session are refunded in full. Late cancellations and no-shows are reviewed case by case. See our Refund Policy for details.

How does PASS prevent cheating?

PASS is for learning, not for doing students' work. Tutors must not take exams, complete graded assignments, or submit work on a student's behalf. See our Academic Integrity Policy.

Are tutors identity verified?

PASS may require identity or eligibility verification before certain tutors can accept bookings, especially where safety requirements apply. We avoid marking a tutor as identity verified unless that step has been completed.

Can minors use PASS?

Learners under 18 need a parent or guardian to verify consent before they can book sessions. Accounts for learners under 13 are restricted at signup until a parent verifies consent. Additional safety requirements may apply before tutors can work with minor learners.

Does PASS guarantee grades?

No. PASS provides academic support, but we do not guarantee grades, test scores, admissions outcomes, or assignment results.

How do I become a tutor?

Click 'Become a Tutor', tell us about your school and the subjects you can teach, and submit your application. Our team reviews each application before approval.

How do tutors get paid?

Tutors are paid out weekly for completed sessions from the previous week, after the dispute window closes. Payouts require a verified payment account.
